I have heard the Berkeley’s curves are extremely difficult. It seems that getting an A in a clas there is very hard and sounds nearly impossible. Is this really true? How hard is it to get an A in a premed class such as chem 1A or Math 16A?

If you've got a 160 IQ and you like to spend your free time at the library, it won't be hard at all. But that's not to say that hard work doesn't beat talent when talent does not work...

On the other hand, if you're someone who lives for sex and booze, you're brain will surely drown the first week.

its as difficult as you make it to be

its all about balancing your time

But compared to other universities, is the budgeting of tim skewed heavily towards studying?

i'm pretty sure you have to study a lot no matter which top-end college you go to in the nation.

awww, i m scared about berk now, so how do most ppl maintain a high gpa>

most people don't, i believe ^^

unless you stay in your dorm and not have a social life

ummm , should i go to berk then

Engineering is gonna give us hell at Berkeley. Prof's straight outta IIT, Pune.

omg iit!!!

Yeah. It looks like I will be repeatedly raped (metaphorically speaking, of course) over the course of the next four years by skinny, old Indian men.

Sexy.

But for the humanities, it is notably less difficult/competitive? (i.e. for political science, philosophy, peace and conflict?)

Eh... ***. "Liberal arts?" Why don't you just go to a CSU?

Because why the hell would I go to a CSU when I can go to Berkeley? That was a retarded question.

And what's wrong with liberal arts?

a lot of A's are given out in humanities classes, almost 1/2 on average

I hope Indians who are into engineering have some sort of an advantage with their Indian counterpart professors.....

How about the social science department?

doesnt berkley have like 60 percent acceptance rate to med school...if ur at berkeley i wouldnt suggest going into medicine haha

it usually ranges from 60-70%.
But, the avg for the nation is like 48%, so not THAT big of a difference.

I'm not too familiar with what the normal amount given out is, so is this really a lot? Therefore, are the humanities relatively "easy" at Berkeley (not just in comparison to the sciences and maths at Berkeley, but also in comparison to other universities across the country)?
