When does Cal usually announce scholarship nominees?

Also, based on my stats, do I have a fair chance?

SAT single seating: Math 760; CR 750; Writing 800
SAT II: Math 2 780; US History 790
APs (all 5s): Calc AB; English Lit; English Language; Chemistry; US History; American Gov; Micro Econ; Macro Econ

I graduated valedictorian from a New England boarding school in 2011 and have worked for the past 18 months. I had a four month internship with a South African non-profit, and I started a small independent tutoring business, which I have been doing full time since April 2012 (I wrote one of my essays about this).

My extracurriculars are decent (many related to politics): founded political club, opinions columnist and editor for school paper; debate captain (won awards); model congress (won awards at conferences); volunteering, etc.

Anyone with experience care to chance me? Thanks!

It really depends on your high school, your competition at your high school, and your major. My D had better stats than you, but didn’t get Regents at Berkeley because her classmates were ridiculous. But, she did get it at UCSB, got into UCLA and UCB, is at UCB and is a Cal Alum scholar… so don’t count on anything… but do apply to be a Cal Alumni Scholar to hedge your bets…
Eldr Wnd - Congrats! That means you are in!

I just got mine. The slots are already filling up so I assume they were all sent at the same time. You can check whether or not you’ve received the candidacy on your Berkeley student account thing, for those that might be having internet issues.

I don’t have an invitation in my email inbox, but I just checked my student account and I have a message inviting me to interview. Not sure if it’s just my email account, if they’re slow on sending out emails, or if my student account is lying to me. (S- last name, Southern California, turned in my application almost the day of the deadline, in case anyone was wondering about email order.)

I actually no longer have the message I received - it went away after I freaked out and signed up for the first open interview spot I saw - but it appeared in the messages section of myBerkeleyApplication and essentially said ‘Congratulations, you have been invited to interview for the Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship…’ and included a link to RSVP for an interview.

For whomever wanted the post:
Dear etc…
On behalf of the faculty at UC Berkeley, I am pleased to notify you of your candidacy for the Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship. This award is the most prestigious offered to entering undergraduates by UC Berkeley, one of the world’s premier learning and research universities. Benefits include a monetary award, priority registration, guaranteed on-campus housing, a Faculty Mentor, research fellowship opportunity, membership in the Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholar’s Association, and financial aid advising.

As a Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship candidate, your admission to the University of California, Berkeley for the fall 2013 semester has been assured. Log in to myBerkeleyApplication on March 29, 2013 to receive your official notification and the conditions of admission.

Please select your interview date and time with a UC Berkeley faculty member today. Interview time slots are limited!

Apparently the email says that you are guaranteed a spot at UC Berkeley, because my friend got it. I’m freaking out. Are they still rolling out emails? Or does this mean I’m not guaranteed a spot at Berkeley and am one of the “lower Regents nominees”?

I signed up for an interview immediately…but I am skeptical as to why I didn’t get an email especially since my email account has never failed me.

And on the application portal my application status still says “In Review” but I have the message directly underneith notifying me about regents

Is there anyone here who is not a California resident but has gotten Regents invite from Berkely or UCLA? I am wondering because my son hasn’t heard anything and his stats are comparable to few of the guys who have posted
