berkeley;s policy is really dumb....seriously

one of my friends who applied to college of arts & sciences got in with a 35 something in ib and 1 1950 sat and 1400 sat 2 on 1600
and i got rejected from undeclared engineering with a 4.3 gpa, 2230 sat 1 and 1560 sat 2

now after he gets in he can start working hard and transfer into some engineering course
but what about me??i can't even enter

seriously this major based thing should change

btw both are intels

i don’t know what you said but yeah it’s really really hard to transfer into engineering from letters&science so good luck to him, and don’t be bitter bro!

I also heard from one of the deans in Engineering that transferring from L&S to Engineering is strongly discouraged and fiercely competed. Although it is a second chance to get into Berkeley Engineering, the risk is to stay in L&S forever.

It’s much harder to transfer to college of engineering than actually applying to it as a freshmen.

I don’t think your intended major/college is what got your friend accepted or you rejected.

“undeclared engineering” is the hardest engineering major to get into. That probably WAS your problem, picking that major. I agree, the system for admitting engineers is not really fair or reasonable.

But it’s certainly not easy to transfer into engineering from L&S, you have to get high grades in very hard courses…

That sucks.. I got into Berkeley Engineering with a 4.25 UC GPA; 2230 SAT1/ 1520 SAT2… ;P

Berkeley admissions were random at my school this year also

all i have to say is that undeclared engineering is one of the hardest (if not THE hardest) majors to get into. being accepted into l&s is faaaar easier.
