Please please evaluate my stats, and my probability! I’ll try to keep it brief… but that won’t be difficult because it’s brief anyway… -__-

I’m a Junior at Cupertino HS and I’m Chinese… thats the biggest factor… im like, 1%ile of my race… -______-

I’m also a conservative, if that does anything.

Please resond truthfully! as well as frankly.

Your GPA is eating away your chances.
Also, focus on ONE AREA. Berkeley doesnt like to admit well-rounded students anymore. You should create a club or something, and focus in one discipline.
I'd give it a 35% chance.

To be honest i think 35% is pushing it. Berkeley only accepted 6.9% of the people who applied with a UC gpa of 3.7-3.99 last year.

conservative at berkeley?? u sure u wanna be there?

also.. will u be an ELC? b/c berkeley has a 62.5% acceptance rate for ELCs

Nationality unlikely to be a factor. UCs are already fully loaded with students who are "asian."

As far as I know, there is no "political orientation" question on the application, so being "conservative" will not help from a "diversity" standpoint.

djdooey is right about the gpa, it will be an anchor holding you back. However, if mediocre grades in math are pulling it down and you want to be an English major OR conversely, language-based courses are holding you back and you want to be a math major--then maybe Berkeley will overlook the lower than usual GPA.

Any AP where you score a 3 will not help you. Only 4 and 5 increase your chances. Work hard to get 4s and 5s.

You should apply to Berkeley, you do have a shot, especially if your mid-year performance in the AP courses you take next year is strong. You will look like you have momentum.

Best of luck to you and your mom. I'm sure it's tough.

i thought that berkeley didnt look at mid year reports

They dont, unless you were apart of the very few people who were asked to submit their mid year grades and answer a few short questions.
