Hi! I'm a freshman at UC Berkeley and I've been interested in joining a sorority since the beginning of the semester (I missed the deadline to apply for fall rush, sadly). I know some chapters have spring rush, but I hear not all participate. Is this true? Does anyone know which ones are doing it?

I'm also confused/wondering about the "tier or rankings" I keep hearing about. Are some sororities "better" than others (top tier vs bottom tier)? Which ones are the top, middle and bottom tiers, and why? I know a few girls in different sororities and they are all outgoing, pretty and stylish.

Preferably, I'd like to join neither a "bottom or top tier house."
Houses I've been considering based on what I heard/seen and read are Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, Alpha Chi Omega and Alpha Omicron Pi. Are these good choices? Does anyone know more about these houses?

If you haven’t checked out the CalGreeks website, you should: [CalGreeks - Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of California, Berkeley](http://www.calgreeks.com). It will answer a lot of your questions as to which sororities are available and which ones do Spring recruitment. You may also want to contact the PHC coordinator at the CSL (basically, Berkeley’s Greek Life office) for more information.

In terms of rankings: keep in mind that all sororities exist for a reason. They all differ in their unique ways, and if there is any ranking system, it’s highly subjective. For the best experience, you should look for the chapter that fits you the best. Your own observation that they are “all outgoing, pretty, and stylish” is quite accurate.

I personally know of a few women from each of the four sororities you’ve mentioned, and they’re all great. You should definitely check them all out carefully and see which one floats your boat the best.
