Berkeley Spring 2015 Admit!

Soo..
I was only expecting either an acceptance for Fall or a rejection, possibly a waitlist.
Completely forgot the possibility of spring admit at Cal.

I did also get into Davis, SD, and LA.
I was still debating LA vs. Cal Spring 2015 but my father pretty much decided to ignore my admission to LA for the prestige of Cal.. (which is going to stir a debate here in CC..)

Anyone else here got Spring 2015 admit from Cal?
Are you guys going to accept it?
My case is a bit more complicated since I'm a UC-UC intercampus transfer.

I sort of wish I got deferred to Spring. I go into Fall though.

i got spring 2015 too… weird

admitted for spring too.
Might accept the offer,but still thinking about the moving problems.

I got in for the Spring as well. This is hard.

I got in for Spring 2015 (English Major) as well!
UCLA for American Literature & Culture (fall)
UCI for English (fall)
Berkeley does has the prestige, BUT UCLA has the conveniece of being in LA (I want to write for television).

@flowerchild747 I agree! Such a hard decision!

@LAbaker‌ omg, are you and I the same person… HAHA. Literally applied as an American Literature and Culture major for LA, English for Cal and Irvine. But I got a C in a winter class so now I am worried Cal will rescind my admission… -.-

@Freetofly112‌ wanna exchange admissions? lol
@snowbosan9‌ @Kittybb‌ @flowerchild747‌
My dad basically decided for me that Cal is the way to go…
My family is in NorCal and they’ve never really liked SoCal so they really want me back up there.

I just don’t know how it is going to work for me since I’m enrolled in another UC. Do I stay for another quarter before I go there in January or what…
Gonna call them on Monday.

Another one of my concerns is orientation.
I did some research and I think our orientation will be in mid-fall?
That’s gonna be quite troublesome when we are in the middle of school especially I’m 8 hours away from Cal…

It was so awkward. I screamed when I saw congratulation, ran around in the living room, sat back down, saw the Spring 2015, went silent for 10 minutes…
It is still an acceptance though! Congratz to all of you as well.

Spring admit here. There are pros and cons but in my personal situation the pros outweigh the cons.
Like you OP, I am also LA vs. Spring Berk. I am most likely going to choose Cal.

As far as I know, you don’t have to go to school this upcoming Fall at all. You should review your conditions of admissions however. I know in most cases, people who are admitted for Spring are competitive but are missing 1 pre-req or something like that. If they didn’t specify to you any classes you should take prior to enrolling in the Spring, I am pretty certain you don’t have to attend school in the Fall.

Ehh, they’re both pretty prestigious, with Berkeley having the edge. Do you want to go to Berkeley or UCLA, though? What your father thinks is irrelevant. It’s all about what you want.

Personally, if I were undecided and admitted to Cal for fall, then it would make things harder, but I want to graduate with a degree quickly, so getting admitted for spring would be a real deal-breaker. That’s just me, though.

For those who are spring admit students, Berkeley allows you to transfer up to 70 semester units. If you haven’t reached this number, you can spend one semester at CC before coming to Cal. By doing so, you only need to take 12.5 units per semester and graduate without taking summer classes. Of course you need to ask them whether or not you can take classes in the fall at the CC, but I think it won’t be the issue.

Some classes that I recommend you to take are the ones that fulfill American Cultures Graduation Requirement and American History and Institutions Requirements. You need them in order to graduate, and you can check assist.org to see which class is offered at your CC. One of my friends really regrets not taking these classes at CC because if he had done so, he would have only taken upper division classes for his major.

Hi! I was admitted for Spring 2015 as well. My main concern is wanting to graduate by May of 2016. I’ve already spent 5 semesters at a CC and don’t want to turn my undergrad education into a 5-6 year endeavor. Do you think it would be possible for us to graduate in May of 2016? I am wondering if it is possible to take classes this fall at a CC and have these count towards Berkeley. Do you know the minimum amount of upper division units needed to graduate?
THANKS!

@Cayton‌ I know I have mentioned my father several times, but yes, I want to attend Cal. It’s always been my top choice. I’m just very much thrown off by this Spring 2015 thing. @JYtransfer‌ As much as I want to just chill for 6 months, like @Cayton said, I wanna graduate on time or should I say as soon as possible since I’m considering double majoring.

@theonewhodares‌ I went to check my units. After this quarter, I will completely 63 semester units, with 7 semester units left. That’s barely 2 class right? I’m at a quarter school, 7 semester units = 10.5 quarter units, should be a at most 2 classes. I’m at a UC right now, so probably staying here for Fall wouldn’t be so economic?

@sccali80‌ I’m sure you can take classes at CC so you can stay on track. Which college are you admitted to? I’m in College of Letters & Science and they require 36 upper division units (6 of the 36 must be outside of your major department).

Don’t they take up to 80 units if you have 10 units at a four year university?

@CooCooCaChoo25‌ They do? I mean all of my units are from a four year university…

@globeneon , don’t quote me on that, but I remember seeing it on the UC website or Cal admissions website.

wait so this wasn’t a mistake? why do they do this if I applied for fall?

@globeneon thanks for the info! I’m in college of L & S too!

@snowbosan9 If you are asking why they defer you to spring, its to help regulate space in the college.
