Berkeley Spring Admits

@ o0racle: I’m also leaning to Cal! Any idea what you’ll do in the fall? Since I live near Berkeley, I’ll be taking summer school there, and then hopefully research at UCB in the fall.

I really have no idea…maybe intern at some company. FYI, I am an international student and I took the last quarter off to relax and visit my parents back home. At least I am gonna backpack in Australia next month but I don’t have the dough to last very long. Anyone know when is the Spring Calso?

I believe I read that the spring CALSO for transfers is sometime in December. Don’t quote me on that though lol. I’m pretty sure I read that it’s in December though :).

Does anyone know what they are doing in the fall?

when can we register our .edu e-mail addresses?

nvm

Berkeley email account (CalMail): Available 6/23
Every student is required to have a campus e-mail (CalMail) account. Official correspondence from faculty and the University will be sent to your CalMail address. As a spring student, you will be able to create your CalMail account in early September. Contact info: consult@berkeley.edu | (510) 642-7776

I have a son at Cal whose academic advisor told him that (in his major) he could take up to two classes through berkeley extension through concurrent enrollment. I suggest those of you who are spring admits call your individual departments and see what they suggest. This happens every year with transfers and incoming freshmen… I am sure they have options for you. Berkeley City College is very close by and also offers some concurrent enrollment with Cal, meaning you get to take Berkeley classes with Berkeley professors on the berkeley campus and pay community college prices. Don’t know how the current financial situation affects concurrent enrollment but I bet a BCC counselor can help answer questions about it.

@ hidingout: This is the best news I’ve heard all day…hell all week! lol. If I can take 2 UCB courses on campus for the price of CCC units, that would be fantastic! I could double major!

Does anyone know for sure if we are allowed to take classes at another UC during the fall? hmm

I tried to do concurrent enrollment and wasn’t able to do it. Classes were just too full. You can definitely try, but don’t plan on taking any quasi-popular classes. You definitely won’t get in.

I got in as a spring admit too, and was a little let down about it, but I’m actually glad I got in for spring and Cal’s always been my dream school. Waiting half a year won’t be too bad in the long run, UCB could be the start of a successful future for me and what’s 6 months of my life compared to all that awaits me after I graduate? I’ll also have time to get a job and save money for school (UCB ain’t cheap!), and take a break! I know doing absolutely nothing sounds like torture for some people (including me) but it’d be nice to just chill and get myself ready for the transition.

I was able to register my berkeley.edu email address, not sure if anyone else was curious about that but it works now! :D

Is the Fall freshmen program only for freshmen who are coming out of highschool? Just wondering
