I am definately a prospective student for berkeley, but I'm skeptical that I will get in. What was your profile like in high school? What were you ACT/SAT scores? Does berkeley prefer that you're in a lot of sports? Thanks for responding!

There are tons of stats threads, so that should be easy to find.

"Does berkeley prefer that you're in a lot of sports?"

I'm not an adcom but I would say they would like to see a pattern of genuine interest rather than an amalgamation of different sports and clubs used only to fill a college application.

As a UCSD high school admit (I'm a transfer) I only had 2 clubs on the app along with some week long community service projects. I know USCD isn't Berkeley but it still reflects what top California universities are looking for.

theres no typical berkeley student, i think thats guaranteed so even if i gave u my stats im sure there are ppl who are higher and lower than me who didnt get in or did get in.

in general, they want high GPA's meaning 3.7+, SAT scores 2100+, good strong extra curriculars that reflect an interest in them and not doing it just for the sake of doing it.

the numbers are just ballparks there are plenty of exceptions so ur by no means out of it if ur not there. essays also matter a lot so make sure u have something intresting to say. =D

Why don't you tell us your stats and we'll tell you your chances and what you can do?

Or, if you prefer to not give them out, the best source of information is probably the 2006 admissions thread. Just search for it.
