Berkeley- Switching Colleges- L&S to Engineering

So I was recently admitted to Berkeley's L&S college, and I had applied with the intention to graduate as an economics major. However, over the last few months of my senior year, I have started leaning towards engineering, specifically civil engineering.

How difficult is it to switch colleges at Berkeley? When should I be applying for the change? Is it something I can do before I start my first day of class, or should I be waiting until I finish my first semester?

Seconded (odd coincidence - I was clicking the "new thread’ button to post this exact same question when I saw this thread.)

I was named a Regents/Chancellor scholar, I’m not sure if that would make things any easier.

If it’s not possible to just switch colleges, would it be reasonable to take all the same courses as an L&S student that an engineering student would and then transfer at the end of freshman year with nobody the wiser, or would class registration be impossible or next to impossible in that scenario?
In my case, I’d probably be looking to switch to “Undecided Engineering” or maybe EE, which I gather are tight on space. I’ll give the admissions department a call when they open, but if anybody knows anything here, any input would be very helpful. Thanks, everyone!

what about switching from L&S to the overly impacted EECS program?

you guys could use the search features…there’s been several threads on transferring to Engineering.

I have not closely read the posts above, so this is just a generalized FYI.

If you are interested mostly in CS, there is not point to switching to EECS in CoE when you can just do CS in L&S (and take extra EE courses on the side if you wish).
