Berkeley Transfers - Transportation Thread

What are you guys doing for transportation? I have my truck, a sport bike, and a mountain bike. I'm thinking about leaving my truck at home. What do you guys think?

vespaaaaaaa

im seeing about taking my SV650SF with me. But i’m afraid someone will steal it, its too pretty =[

I think you should take your truck and use it as much as possible XD

I drive a big ass RED truck. I’m gonna be the most popular guy ever. : )

dingdingdingding!

Stick it to the hippies! lol.

Magic carpet.

Ill probably be leaving my vehicle at home. Ill try to save up for a scooter this Summer.

I guess its going to depend on where I get to live. I just am having a hard time thinking about life without my truck, lol. Around here, a vehicle is crucial to getting around (especially in the summer when it hits like 110, not fun on a bike, lol).

^ do you live in like san bernardino or something?

I really need a car on the weekends but I have no idea where I should store it. Cal has an off-campus car storage lot but it’s in a sketchy unattended area and my car has no alarm. :(

I don’t plan to use the car on weekdays to get around campus, but I’m going to need it on weekends, as I’m going to be expected to check in with family every few weeks and flying that often isn’t an option. So… There’d better be someplace to park my baby. On campus, I plan on walking or maybe taking my bike around.

@edbraga - Naw, I’m in a small town in the central valley. Its not uncommon for me to have to drive for 30 minutes or more to get things I need. For instance, all of the major stores like Best Buy, Guitar Center, Border’s, and the mall are about a 25 minute drive away. Which is part of the reason I can’t wait to leave!

Hmm, if it isn’t too expensive, I wouldn’t mind just having my truck parked somewhere for most of the time. At least then it would be accessible if I did happen to need it for something. And, if I wanted to go home for any extended period of time, someone would then have to come and get me which does not sound like something I want to do.

I live in Fremont, so I’m taking BART + a bike for my transportation needs. No car, no gas money needed :D

I want to get a motorcycle, but I’m pretty sure I’ll end up using my mountain bike + BART. Cheap and easy.

gsilas2007, you don’t need a car for berkeley. You can basically walk/ very short bus ride/ bart/ anywhere.

Yeah in Berkeley you’ll pretty much never need a car. If I go, I’ll only be using BART/trains/buses lol. I take public transit every day anyway.

This is how it will go for me:

Airport–>cousin driving me to our apartment–>walk to campus/apartment–>everywhere else AC Transit/BART, just walking in general! Great exercise!^^

@ Yunie: I’m so excited that you got into Berkeley!! Do you happen to know if it’s possible to appeal a spring admissions and possibly have it switched to fall? lol I’ll be PM-ing sakurax soon too :p.

^
Emilll!!! Thank youuuuuuu. <3333 Unfortunately, guess what?! I’m leaning towards UCLA because I want to have a higher chance for getting into Cal for Graduate School. My cousin didn’t have to go through all that (since she didn’t apply to UCLA) and is applying to Princeton/Duke for Graduate School so she’s making me suffer all on my own! ;__;

I have heard that that is very very very difficult, if not impossible. Personally I’ve never heard of such a case! ): Maybe they can switch your admissions to Fall or the other…but I’m not sure about them both! ): Ask my cousin, she’ll know more! xD.
