Hey I live in so-cal and up until now i was ninety percent sure I wanted to go to Berkeley until my parents decided that they would actually let me consider NYU! Now that I don't know anything about the school and haven't visited it at all could some of you guys please tell me about the school? My major is bio and I'm going pre-med which school do you think is better for that? I truly like the city that's why I originally chose berkeley over ucsd...and now I have to decide between berkeley and NYU. Well thanks for any input!

i would consider how much merit aid/fin aid you received from nyu. since you are going to med school, a undergrad and med school education is going to cost ALOT. if money is a factor, i think itd be wise to go to berkeley for premed (save alot of money and you said you were set on going there) and then if you still really want to go to NYU you can apply there for med school, which is highly regarded. i know people who went state school undergrad to nyu for grad and it saved them a lot of money.

i think everyone would heavily suggest you visit nyu and berkeley (if you haven't already) to see what you feel most comfortable in. i dont know if you can between now and may 1st. a lot of people love nyu and some hate it-- so visiting the "campus" is the best way to see for yourself.

each has its pros and cons. berkeley is very prestigious, competitive and more of the typical college experience. and if you are instate the money you will save (if you aren't getting any aid from nyu that is) is crazy. nyu is great and rising every year but some complaints are the lack of the typical college experience and campus and lack of fin aid (living in NY is expensive!) at this point in time it sounds like berkeley is the better choice in looking at the long run, but thats only from my view. it also depends on what you want from college. either way, you have 2 great schools to choose from. good luck w/ the decision!
