I just reported gugupo. I really wanted to talk to him, but he never responded. Oh well.

@gugupo-

so you were rejected from Penn, and you’re still bitter from it? In literally all of the posts that I’ve read, you’ve had some comment to make that detracts from Penn or Wharton, and the stuff you back yourself up is half-true at most. Penn’s admit rate is something like 12-13% for CAS, 7-9% for Wharton, and its dual-degree programs are, in some cases, significantly harder to get into than Harvard. In your recent post, you declared wharton #4 because of one report, but you ignore the other two that declare it #1. You are constantly detracting from the UPenn forum with insubstantial data and ridiculous claims; does your ego still sting from rejection?

that is the admit rate for SEAS ? and for other schools ?

Penn CAS announced that their admit rate was 10% this year.

Those were figures for some previous years; I hadn’t seen anything for this year yet.
I would say that if CAS is 10%, one could estimate engineering to be higher, and nursing to be higher than that, so that the overall admittance rate might run from 10-15%. However, that’s just a broad estimation.

I would bet that the 10% acceptance rate for CAS is the RD rate. The overall acceptance rate for CAS (RD and ED combined) is generally pretty close to the overall acceptance rate for Penn, which this year is 14.2% (for now–that may go up slightly with waitlist activity).

The overall acceptance rate for Nursing this year is 20%:

[Nursing School admits 20 percent for 2014 | The Daily Pennsylvanian](http://www.thedp.com/article/nursing-school-admits-20-percent-2014)

I would guess that the overall acceptance rate for SEAS this year is in the 14-20% range.

Historically, CAS admit rate ~= Overall Penn admit rate
SEAS, Nursing admit rate >> Overall admit rate.

well history is history, the fact of the matter is that this year Penn CAS had an acceptance rate of 10%, something you cannot seem to accept :)

^ What’s the source for that 10% figure? If it’s the RD acceptance letter (or some other CAS welcome letter), could you (or someone else) check that again and see if it refers specifically to RD applicants? I know there have been similar discussions of this on CC in prior years, and I’m pretty sure that it’s the RD acceptance rate that has been quoted in this context.

That 10% CAS figure came in a letter. Whether it was a welcome letter or not, I don’t remember. I’ll have to ask my wife. I don’t recall it specifically mentioning RD though.

^ If you still have the letter, could you post the actual CAS-acceptance-rate language here? Penn is very tight with this kind of information, and it would be much appreciated!

Both are clearly very good schools. The fact that one may be harder to get into does not mean that the other is not strong. In fact both are hard to get into for most students.
Since Berkeley is strong and large I would expect that there are more really outstanding students there. These students take full advantage of the faculty. Of course this does not apply to the majority of students at Berkeley or for that matter Penn. I would also expect that a top student at Berkeley would still be able to graduate in four years.

Probably the best reason to go to Penn would be to venture further away from home and experience a very different environment.

Both are great school, but Berkeley carries far more prestige.
Berkeley is Harvard MIT level school.

Id be weary of the UC system at this point in time.

Although not even remotely in terms of undergrad selectivity. Why are you back?

Gugupo. Please. Stop. Bashing. Penn. On Every Single Forum.

Seriously, I’ve been scrolling through the Penn forums and you’ve been bashing it EVERYWHERE.

LOOK AT US NEWS. I know rankings aren’t a great method of looking at schools…But

Penn is #4

Berkeley is #21.

Berkeley’s acceptance rate is 22%. Penn’s is much much lower - as shown by previous posters.

Penn’s Median SAT Score - CR: 660-750 M: 690-780 WR: 670-760
Berkeley’s Median SAT Score - CR: 590-710 M: 640-760 WR: 610-720

Berekely has also undergone massive budget cuts through the UC system that make it difficult to graduate in 4 years. And for those of us out of state - that’s nearly 100k more than Penn would cost.

Your ignorance makes me want to throw up.

Please stop bashing Berkeley

According to Academic Ranking of World Universities - 2009
[ARWU 2009](http://www.arwu.org/ARWU2009.jsp)

UC Berkeley is #3
Penn is #15
.
.
UC Berkeley admit rate is : 21.6 %
Penn admit rate is :: 16.9 %

The difference is very small.
This year’s final admit rate is not yet available.

The SAT difference betwee Berkeley and Penn is negligible.

Overall: Berkeley is more prestigious than Penn.

P.S. No one at Wharton thinks that US News ranking is accurate.

This argument is pointless. The OP had to decide 2 weeks ago, not to mention the argument as to which is more prestigious is inane.

^^Penn’s admit rate was 14.2% this year. Where the hell are you getting your sources from?
