Berkeley v. UPenn

From the admitted students letter

I think Grisam was referring to gugupo’s erroneous statement that the acceptance rate was 16.9%.

It is not error. I used 2009 admit rate. The final admit rate for 2010 is not available yet.

2009 UC Berkeley admit rate was : 21.6 %
2009 Penn admit rate was :: 16.9 %

And your own U.S. News rankings rank Penn at*** #4***. What do you have to say to that? Acknowledge everything, or acknowledge nothing at all.

U.S. News MBA ranking shows that Penn ( Wharton ) is #5, and it is worse than Northwestern.

Everyoneone at Wharton says US News ranking is not accurate.

Everyoneone? I don’t know what that means. And yet again, you’re acknowledging one yet ignoring the other. Either you take everything as the truth from one company, or you take nothing. Seeing how you aren’t even in Wharton, you are by no way qualified to comment on the consensus of Wharton students.

You really should consider learning how to support your arguments.

Correction :

Everyone -> Most

There are some Whatron students who accept that Wharton MBA ranking of #5 is accurate.

I don’t know which planet you guys are on!

Berkeley is far better than U of P in so many areas its just ridiculous!

Gugupo is not out of line!

Also, U of P is the worst Ivy! No subjectivity about that statement! Its a FACT!

^Perhaps if you didn’t end every sentence with an exclamation mark, I’d be inclined to take your comments seriously.

This is getting absolutely ridiculous. This contest for who is more prestigious in the end is completely worthless. Every school has in the top 15 has its strong points and weak points, and it’s just dumb to rank them for who is better overall, because better overall doesn’t apply to anyone. No one is going to do everything that the schools offer. For example, if you want to get a bachelor’s of engineering, you might go to Cornell, which is a very well-reputed engineering school. But if you know you’re going into business, then you should turn everything else down for Wharton. The list of why each school has its strong points and personality continues. Forget about going to a school for prestige- go because your personality fits and they have what you like; otherwise, you won’t be happy at all. I turned down what one might consider the top schools (HYP-schools) in the country for Penn because of the academic program I’m in, and to me, that was the most important. I also liked the Social Ivy atmosphere. HYP-whatever are great, fantastic schools, but they are just schools, and they are not inherently better in everything. Really, this is enough school-bashing.

I disagree to the post above because Berkeley is inherently better than U of P, possibly Harvard

■■■■■ 10char :)

let’s hold up; the worst ivy competition is a dead heat between penn and cornell

Gugupo, you seem to quote that MBA stat an aweful lot. As a Whartonite I can say that most of us are willing to accept that our school’s MBA program is ranked as the 5th best, but nobody here is ever talking about graduate programs when you throw that stat around. Wharton has been ranked as the best undergraduate business school since the formation of the US News and World Report College Rankings and UPenn as a whole is ranked 4th at the undergraduate level. Please keep your facts relevent to the ongoing conversation rather than looking for the oldest/most obscure/graduate rankings for discussions regarding the ranks of undergraduate programs

Exactly, longstreet. Why would we care about the ranking of Wharton’s MBA program? We don’t even need an MBA before we enter the work force, but our undergraduate experience (which combines business and liberal arts) will surely be amazing!

Wharton being #5 isnt a big deal Gugupo…most of the undergrads at Wharton dont even need an MBA to start their career. Its the best undergraduate business school in the world…

Nope
Wharton undergraduate program is #4 according to businessweek.

When you want, you default to US news. When that doesn’t suit your agenda, you look for something more obscure. You’re so transparent and inconsistent - no wonder you weren’t good enough for Penn

Worst ivy league schools are Penn and Cornell? You are comparing a top 10 school to a top 20 school there. Your claims are rather absurd.

Your inconsistency and your faulty logic in every retrospect is hurting your credibility in a not exactly great way, gugopo. Good game.

Keep in mind Wharton was the first (and still the best) UNDERGRAD business school in America. I don’t see how the MBA thing matters considering the fact that Wharton is probably (although I wouldn’t know for sure since I’ve never been) focused more on its undergrads than its MBA students. I don’t know if I want to go to Penn next year but gugupo’s bashing is bugging me since I’m trying to find information to apply to schools next year >.< Thanks.

EDIT: longstreet already said this :slight_smile: lol
