Gugupo is just a ■■■■■ who only uses that user name to post negative comments about Penn. The sad way that he lurks around CC would indicate that he was most likely rejected by Penn and has nothing better to do with his life than this.

The businessweek’s ranking is for Undergrad program and Wharton’s undergrad business program is #4.

And businessweek’s rankings are not the ones taken seriously by the college deans & presidents. U.S. News’ rankings are.

BusinessWeek was recently acquired by Bloomberg for almost no money. It’s quite possible that its journalism and reputation will improve in the years to come after many years of neglect from its corporate parent.

scotchtape is a weird dude.

Also, the claim that Berkeley is as selective as Penn is hilarious and absurd.

UC Berkely carries far more prestige and reputation than Penn.

UPenn is an Ivy and Cal is a broke state school with big classes. There’s no comparison–UPenn is in a completely higher class.

U S News & World Report is also suffering from shrinking readership. In the last few years its gone from publishing weekly to biweekly to now monthly. It’s known primarily for publishing subjective lists, in an attempt to generate readership.

Business Week actually has continued to maintain a strong reputation among business publications.

UPenn has state school-level admit rate and selectivity and it is a bottom Ivy.

Oh, really? I didn’t know Penn had 50% or 70% acceptance rate.

I think behappy7 is another alter-ego of gugupo. Joined in May 2010, and all of his posts have to do with Penn bashing (although this time he’s done a better job at remaining subtle, but if you look at his posts, his agenda is the same).

He’s not really bashing Penn in the above two posts. But unfortunately for his argument, U.S. News rankings are the ones taken seriously by colleges, not Businessweek’s.

for poli sci, Penn > UC Berkley

many more exit options and for social science / politics, you’re at least on the right coast.

Last year
Penn admit rate = 17% ~= Berkeley admit rate 21%
~= Georgetown admit rate = 18% ~= Cornell 20%

oh yes, and do you care to list the number of applicants to each school as well?

^Obviously not! The quality of a school is based SOLELY on its’ admission rate - everyone knows that!

Obviously, this makes the IITs better than Harvard because they have an admittance rate of less than 1%. Who cares if IIT gets 400,000 applicants (note: that’s only domestic), it has a lower acceptance rate! Thus, it’s obviously better than Harvard.

Yeah, man. Everyone knows College of the Ozarks (8%) is better than Princeton.

Yeah, man. Everyone knows Wharton (11%) is better than Northern Colorado (93% admit rate)

^***?!? Hahaha… so sad
