I got into Berkeley and carnegie for mech engineering and was waitlisted at Cornell. Im interested in persuing engineering, but also interested into consulting or I-Banking. Which of these schools would seem to fit my goals the best. Trying to figure out if I want to persue getting off Cornell's waitlist.

I think CMU is the way to go...Getting off of Cornell's list is kind of difficult.

ME at Berkeley is the best among the three, and actually not close.

CMU makes little sense since it is worse at Engineering than CAL and won't give advantage for I-bank. Cornell makes more sense and have an arguement with CAL, but the waitlist...

I would pick CMU unless you are instate for Berkeley. Visit both schools and decide which you like better (CMU is smaller and more focused on ugrad).

i agree with sonoma. go with CMU.

For Engineering, all three are excellent. We all know that Cal is one of the top 3 or 4 Engineering programs in the nation, but CMU and Cornell aren't far behind. So, instead of confusing the issue by trying to figure out which of those schools is best, try to see which of those schools fits your personal style best. You cannot lose either way, so go with your personal favorite.

I'm instate for Cal. Im not sure yet if I want to go all the way to Pittsburgh for school, when Cal is semi-close to home.

Which of these schools is the more heavily recruited by McKinsey or other consulting firms/I Banking

CMU definitely has NY connections here in the Northeast. I know Tepper sends a majority of its students to NYC and NewsWeek ranked CMU the Hottest College for Jobs. Avg salaries without bonuses range from 72k for CS, 55k for Tepper, and around 55-57k for Engineering. This can all be found at the CMU website.

Engineering for Cornell was 50k avg http://www.career.cornell.edu/downloads/PostGradSurveys/CCSPstGradRept04.pdf.

PS: I don't know Berkeley's since it is on the West Coast. Do you want to work in the east coast or west?

I grew up on the west, not sure if I want to live on East Coast, since I have never lived there. I guess right now, the west coast.

What about Cornell. Let's just assume I did get in.
