So I've been having a long internal debate with myself lately. I got into U.C. Berkeley a few weeks ago, and I also got into Claremont McKenna. (still waiting on Pomona)

I'd be transferring into either schools as a junior, and I'm primarily interested in computer science. However, I come from a very small school of 400 students, and I'm unsure of my ability to transition into the hustle and bustle of Cal.

Wondering if I can please get your input on this? I'm primary interested in knowing about Berkeley: a) quality of academics relative to those at the Claremont Colleges, b) quality of peers, and c) student life -- having fun and making friends.

Both Berkeley and CMC will give you an excellent education. You'll have very smart peers at both places (although you'll have a lot more Asian peers at Berk), and you'll have fun and make friends wherever you go.

If you ask questions that are this general, we really can't give you specific answers lol.

However, I must point out that Cal has a fantastic computer science department...

The academics are pretty good at both places. You'll be spending much of your time in Claremont at Harvey Mudd, I believe, since that's where the compsci stuff is, which is an excellent compsci institution. There are very smart people in both places, but Berkeley, unlike Claremont McKenna/Harvey Mudd, also accepts a lot of not-so-smart, not-so-interesting people. If you can, visit the schools and see which one you like better.

I've visited both, and both of them are great places! But I'm thinking a lot about student life -- I loved the parties and fun I had at Claremont, but what's that like at Cal? Be as creative as you so please :)
