I got into the College of Chemistry for Berkeley, which I'm stoked for, but those other schools are giving me a LOT of financial aid and scholarships. Even though I'm in state for Berkeley, those other schools are cheaper. I don't know what to do. I want to study chemistry, and I don't know if I should pay les and go to one of the others, or stick with Berkeley.

There’s a huge difference in culture between Berkeley and east coast small liberal arts colleges. Have you visited any of these schools?

I have no clue about how Chemistry are at those schools, but I suspect they have less competition for research positions and less variety.

You may want to ask yourself if you want to do chemistry or chemical engineering. The latter has significantly better job and career prospects, according to Berkeley’s [url=https://career.berkeley.edu/Major/Major.stm]career survey/url.

Oh my goodness. Right now I’m debating between Berkeley and Hamilton as well! I can’t decide. Right now i’ve made this list:

Things Hamilton has that Berkeley seems to be missing:
You’ll be more likely to get those summer internships/jobs with less people competing for them, and with more finaid if you need it
Small class sizes
Writing intensive ideas and actually personalized attention
Great opportunities and connections

Things Berkeley has that Hamilton seems to be missing:
A culture outside of the school
More diversity
Social atmosphere
Reputation

but i can’t decide either.

You should go to ‘Wassar’.

Haha whoops. Didn’t notice the typo for Vassar. Oh dear.

That seems like a really really good list. Hmmm… I’m going to visit Berkeley first, since it’s in state. I don’t have the money to visit Hamilton =( Right now, I’ve heard a lot of great things about CoC, so I think I’m heading to Berkeley.
