Are you Canadian? If so, go to McGill. It will be a lot cheaper for you, and you can save the money for grad school, or to visit the beaches of California on your vacations.

Are you a California resident with in-state tuition to Berkeley? Go there. It will be cheaper for you.

Not a Canadian and not a Californian? Take a good hard look at the true cost of attendance for you, not the faked up version that the financial aid office gave you. What are your REAL transportation costs going to be? What are your REAL book and personal expenses likely to be? Can you work part-time during the school year, and if so, how much are you truly likely to make at that job? Do the math (yes, I know it is a drag, but do it anyway). Then go to the place that is cheaper for you.

If, when you are about to sign the paper to go to the cheaper place, you find that you are bursting into tears and saying "But I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to go to XXXXX" then you will know that your heart is truly set on XXXXX. On the other hand, if you find that all you feel is a sense of relief that the whole horrible process is finally over, go to the cheaper school.

Both of these are absolutely terrific schools. You will have a great college experience at either of them.

Wishing you all the best.
