berkeley vs. notre dame engineering

I am really anxious now as it's heading to the deadline
I am accepted by berkeley engineering undeclared major, which neans i can choose whatever major i want after one semester in berkeley.
and I also have Notre dame, with a little scholarship, so the two are almost equally expensive
actually, i have already submitted the deposit for ND, because i really like the friendly student body, family atmosphere and personal attention, and i think my personality is a good match with ND.but ND's strength is in business, not engineering
but recently i can't help but thinking about berkeley's awsome engineering school, especially the wonderful program i got in. pretty sure i want to major in engineering, but kind of worried about whether i can fit in in berkeley. it is so large that i kind of afraid my life will be a lot more harsh.and i am afriad that berkeley will be too research oriented that undergraduated cannot enjoy its resources
also i want to go to graduate school or even phd
could anyone tell me which school is better when applying to graduate school?
i know berkeley is definitely a better choice for graduates, but what about undergraduates?academically, does these school equal for engineers?
really don't know where i should go......
and can any ND engineers talk about the weight a ND degree carries when applying to engineering graduate school? will it be less competitive than berkeley engineering?

Academically, UCB is significantly superior to ND in engineering. It is hard to know how can anyone fit in and take advantage of the offerings though, since it really depends on each individual.

Assuming one can get the same GPA from both schools, say 3.5+, with some research experiences, most top graduate programs in my experiences will give preference to UCB (or other top undergrad engineering programs) graduates, although I do see a reasonable number of ND graduates in top graduate engineering programs.

For undergraduate engineering, it doesn’t matter if you go to Berkeley or Notre Dame. Both are respected schools.

Rankings and reputation are mostly based on graduate programs and research, which won’t directly affect you as an undergraduate. Go to where you’re more comfortable. The places I’ve worked don’t treat Cal graduates any differently from graduates of other schools.

Both are excellent/well respected schools and if you do well at either place you will be in great shape. Go to the school where you feel you will be the happiest. Once you make a decision, don’t look back!

If you like ND better go with ND.

thank you guys!really appreciate your help! i am going to ND with my heart!
