I got into both Berkeley and UCLA and am trying to decide between the two. I know that both are great schools, so it is a difficult choice.

If you guys would like to share major upsides, downsides, or overall differences about the schools, I would really appreciate it! On a more personal level, I am admitted to Berkeley for spring 2009, so feel free to comment on that situation as well.

i am in the same boat as u but i already chose berkeley! its just a better atmosphere for me personally... but academic wise u cant go wrong with either of these...

unlike u though i was admitted to the falll... i would go to berkeley and take some community college courses in the fall

Can you comment more specifically on the atmosphere? At least where I am, Berkeley has a kind of absurd reputation for being composed entirely of leftist wingnuts and nerdy asians.

well from what ive heard berkely is more quirky/cooky/and odd while ucla is more "socal" and physically concerned. weather is something u should consider.. its cooler in the bay area than in la. and yes cal is a very liberal school but u find everything there so im sure u wont have truouble fitting in. ive been at both universities and i liked the cal atmosphere better despite ucla being i a much better area (westwood).

Hahaha, vc08, that is probably the most inconclusive discussion I have ever read... thanks though. I'm going to visit this weekend and I guess I'll see what I see.

haha sorry i never really read all the way through it, but my fave part was:

hey dejawu: i take offense to that ugly comment. i will be attending berkeley in the fall and do not consider myself to be ugly. stop stereotyping. smart does not equal ugly.
