Berkeley vs WashU in St Louis (premed)

so i'm having huge problems deciding between these two schools. although berkeley is a wonderful school, it seems like wustl beats it in every regard with respect to my own personal preferences (medium size, better premed, more cooperative student body, excellent food/dorms, more attention from professors [better recs], out of state since i live in cali, easier time choosing classes, better advising) except for the fact that berkeley has a better study abroad program and a cheaper tuition.

i can live without studying abroad, but the tuition is a huge game changer. i feel like my preferences aren't worth the difference in tuition (about $25k a year) even though i know that i'll enjoy the wustl experience more. i mean i plan to work hard and go to medical school too, but i don't know if an extra $100k + interest over the 4 years is really worth it (even though i know most people would totally say no). there're surely geniuses out there who'll take most of the scholarships so although i'll still try to apply for them, i'm not really counting it as a reliable option. but overall, my biggest problem would be the fact that i heard berkeley's premed program is more competitive and harder to get a good gpa than that of wustl.

i'm really happy i got into these two fantastic schools, but this is a decision that'll completely change the direction my life goes, and i don't want to regret it. any advice is much appreciated!! :)

It’s not. Berkeley is a great school. You will end up enjoying it, and be much better off financially.
