I posted the same thing on the Berkeley forum
Can anyone help me decide between Cal and WashU?

If you are OOS in CA, Wash U should be an easy choice:
-You will not get shot out of classes required for your major
-you can choose and change schools and majors easily
-you will get great advising and lots of personal attention

What about if the OP is a CA resident, without any FA from Wash U (meaning the cost would be more than double at Wash U)?

I think that would depend on the family situation. It would not make sense for a student to take out $25k a year in loans to go to Wash U or put his parents under unneeded financial stress. If money were of no concern, the current condition of the UC system begs looking twice at Berkeley.

I’m a CA resident who chose Wash U over Berkeley. However, that was largely due to the fact that my financial aid package made the prices essentially equal. That and I liked Wash U way more than Berkeley after visiting both…

nngmm hit the nail on the head with those three reasons.
