Congratulations! I am pleased to offer you admission to the University of California, Berkeley for fall 2008. You have been admitted to the College of Letters and Science.

Given the record number and extraordinary quality of our applicants this year, this offer is a great accomplishment. You and your family have every reason to be proud of your academic and personal achievements.

Enjoy this moment and picture yourself at Berkeley, a place where you truly can change the world.
The next step for you to take is formal acceptance of our admission offer. Everything you need to do and know is available in the Next Steps section on the Home page (click the Home tab above) in myBerkeleyApplication.

Again, welcome to Berkeley! We believe in you and the unique contributions you will make here at Cal.

luvtoolearn, that is a good point, haha, but at the same time they must get bombarded with phone calls today (if decisions do come out before they close) and tomorrow. in that sense, it seems like it would be an advantage of releasing decisions on a rolling basis.

Thank you for applying to UC Berkeley. After careful consideration, we are sorry that we are unable to offer you admission for the fall semester 2008.

Our transfer decisions were very difficult this year, as competition for fall admission was exceptionally rigorous. We were able to admit less than a third of the 12,000-plus transfer applications, all of whom were very well qualified. We regret that many talented and promising transfer students will not be included in our entering class because of this high level of selectivity. We have prepared the answers to some frequently asked questions which provide additional information about our selection process and, we hope, address your concerns.

Thank you for your interest in the University of California, Berkeley, and we wish you every success in achieving your educational goals.

Sincerely,
WR sign

Congratulations! I am delighted to welcome you to the College of Letters and Science at the University of California, Berkeley for the spring semester 2009, which starts in January.

We realize you did not apply for the spring term, but we believe you could be a strong addition to our campus even if we can’t offer you admissions for fall. Your deferred admission is an indication of the size and rigor of our transfer applicant pool, which numbered more than 12,000 this year, rather than a reflection on your academic or personal performance.
