Berkeley wow factor

How strong is the wow factor of Berkeley from where you’re at? People at my HS place it right below Cornell/Dartmouth. Just curious.

People at my high school place it at the same level as Cornell/Dartmouth, and a bit below Brown and Penn.

My friends’ parents, who are mostly Chinese/Indian immigrants, seem to believe that Berkeley is second only to MIT, Harvard, and Stanford. My family members back in China and Taiwan also seem to think the same.

I chose Berkeley over Cornell, and I personally believe the “wow factor” of Berkeley at least matches or is comparable to that of the lower ivies :smiley:

UCB is 6th.

People at my HS place Berkeley Engineering, STEM and Haas just below HYPSM + Caltech. And the EECS as comparable to HYPSM. The rest of the colleges/programs as comparable to Cornell, Northwestern, UVa and such schools.

And wow they don’t give any OOS aid any more. That is rough for a kid who would get aid at another top 20 school.

^^^Then that students will be stuck having to go to another top 20 school with aid.
