I just realised something, I know the acceptance rate for Berkeley is around 24%. But is that for all the applicants? I've also read about 40,000 students apply, but how many apply from California alone? If there's a lot applying from out of state, does that really mean that the admission rate for In-state students is higher? Anybody know what the admission rate for In-state students is?

Here is the link with the Fall 06 admissions numbers for Cal:

^From that website:

Average unweighted GPA 3.83

Average weighted GPA 4.26

Is the weighted GPA the UC-calculated GPA?

I think that is fully weighted.

Anyone know the acceptance rate for engineering?

Terrible, need I say more.

Engineering's acceptance rate is of minor concern compared to its passing rate...

That is true, E77 and physics 7a is killing me right now.

E77 and physics 7a? Bah. Just wait until you hit fun courseloads like mine: EE141, CS162, CS170, CS198, Physics 110A.

Oh, and in case anyone ever reads this and thinks of taking EE141 and CS162 together (or any two project courses), let me tell you this: DON'T. I was warned, I didn't listen, now my semester sucks.

Does anyone know for sure?

Yes, I second that. I believe the average UC GPA hovers around 4.17.

Thank you vicissitudes. :)
