I'm an international relations/ international development major planning to transfer from a community college, but I'm having a hard time finding information of Berkeley's International/ Area Studies department. I'm mostly just interested in how competitive it is and how selective/difficult it is for transfer students to get it. Like UCLA is known to have a very competitive International Development studies major and it even says that on the website, but i know it is a smaller department at Cal so there isn't much information on that aspect. Does anyone know anything about IAS or know someone majoring in that department and could give me some information about it? cus right now all i ca find is whats on Cal's webiste and thats just basics

You might want to post this in the UC subforum.
Don’t know if you’ve already seen this, but Development studies is posted under Interdisciplinary studies, which had a 34.2% admit rate. I’m assuming IAS would fall under Interdisciplinary as well. http://students.berkeley.edu/files/admissions/12626_5.info_transadm.pdf
