was it a large or small amount?

My S is auditioning at Berklee next week and we are also wondering how long it takes for later auditioners to get their notifications. Anyone have this experience?

by now it’s to late to be in the early action decision period, he will be notified march 31st

You were right! At 12:01 AM on 1/31, my DS got an email congratulating him on his acceptance to Berklee. Much celebration in our house. Now hoping for a positive scholarship email. I hope the news was as good for everyone else this evening!

Im accepted !!!

Congratulations to kcreative’s S and to 18karat!

Where does Berklee fit on your overall list and how will you make your final decision? Good luck …

it’s been at the very top for 4 years my dream school…even when i saw countless other schools it still prevailed, oberlin IS a close second though well i’m going to send in my tuition deposit to hold a seat, i wont really know how it’ll turn out until scholarships go out this week…thats the real trouble. getting in is one thing but then you gotta pay for it! :p

Congrats to 18karat!!! You have been talking about Berklee since I came here. My S is auditioning this week on guitar and one of his best friends has also auditioned there and it is his friend’s dream school as well. My S isn’t so sure, but it will be a tough choice he he is accepted at Berklee and everywhere else (he is already accepted at Belmont and expects to be at Temple and NYU as well). May come down to the $$$$. I hope you get a generous scholarship offer so you can go to your dream school!

Just found out my S’s friend was accepted at Berklee also. They were both at Temple yesterday for interviews and are talking about rooming together. I guess his friend will get a dorm room for sure, maybe he can save the other bed for my S. ;-)

Congrats, 18K and kcreative! In the time I’ve been visiting this board, Berklee’s popularity here seems to have risen dramatically. Or maybe this is just a Berklee year at cc!

Congrats to all accepted at Berklee!

D accepted for vocal music performance. thanks to everyone for the heads up on the midnight email. it was so great last night to see that message. Sadly - email on scholarship today was not as positive - but we have not given up on getting some money for this year.

same…i was pretty distressed at my scholarship email. i felt i did everything right at the audition and everything else to warrant a scholarship but obviously there are a ton of ridiculously talented kids. anyways i forgot berklee has separate financial aid aside from the government so i feel confident in that

18karat, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you find a way to get to Berklee or Oberlin, your #1 and #2 choices. Your passion and intensity for music is strong and we can see that! Hang in there.

thank you very much, i’ve only heard from two schools so that leaves 4 to go. lots of options!

Like 18karat and brightonpratts, our S got accepted but did not receive scholarship funds. It was the highest high and the lowest low in less than 24 hours. It was mentioned that Berklee has “separate financial aid aside from the government” What does that mean? Is this aid in addition to aid provided by the feds?

kcreative,

Sorry to hear that the finances did not work out. Many schools, Berklee included, offer scholarships, grants and sometimes loans funded from their own resources in addition to the loans and work-study programs that are funded by the federal government. At a minimum, you should be eligible for an unsubsidized federal loan (assuming you are a US citizen) but that loan would be nowhere near enough to cover the cost of attendance.

yes berklee has its own aid based on need that they give out, this is in addition to any federal/state funds you receive

Hey guys, I’m applying to Berklee this year for sax. I applied back in october but my audition isnt until March 1st, hopefully that wont affect my chances of getting scholarship funds

Saxman, Auditioning March 1st shouldn’t affect chances of scholarship … for a March 1st audition you should hear whether you are accepted on 12:02am March 31st, and then 12-hours to a week later you would hear about possible scholarships. For earlier action folks that found out in January for Fall Admit or in Sept. for Jan. admit, they found out within 12 hours. If the March 31st notifications involve more people, it could take longer. Good luck … enjoy your audition!
