Hi all,
I’m looking for some advice from anyone who knows kinda what they’re talking about. I am currently a freshman at American University in Washington D.C., but am considering trying to transfer into Berklee School of Music for Music Business/Management. American is a phenomenal school, but our Business and Entertainment major is lackluster in the context of some other schools. My biggest question surrounds the audition at Berklee. I am a lifelong musician(I play multiple instruments), but I never excelled at a specific instrument, mostly due to the fact that I never really followed the music path until I came to college. My question is, knowing that I want to go into the Business/Management side of music at Berklee, how important is the audition to the admission team? I will probably play guitar for the audition, but I know already I don’t stack up musically, but I strive in the business aspect. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Have you looked at sample curriculum? It also looks like you don’t actually go directly into the program but have to declare after a semester. This program definitely is a BM with a business flare. I don’t know for sure, but I think the audition be an important part. If it was a BBA with a concentration in music, then I would maybe have a different answer.
This is something that you should ask the admissions office. Yes, it is perfectly ok to ask them! You as only interested in transferring because of the business major, so that should be your focus when you speak with them.
