Anyone out there know much about how selective Berklee is and how generous they are w. financial aid?

steiny- Berklee has become more selective in recent years. The link below is from their admission pages, and within there are seperate scholarship links.

Perhaps someone with direct experience can provide a bit more detail.

financial aid page http://www.berklee.edu/financing/

The website of those wild and crazy guys who administer the SAT tests says that Berklee admitted 32% of their applicants last year. It does not report the number of applicants or their yield.

Hi,
i auditioned at Berklee 2 months ago and have several friends there. Yes, the school is getting selective now, especially depending of the course you choose. they have almost 6000 applications each year and honestly don't know how many of them get in. i would say something like 1000 since the school is very big (4000 students).....btw i wanted to study Film Scoring there (a course in which they recieve a LOT of application since most of the people think it's cool studying that), but they rejected me i think mostly because i don't know anything about blues and jazz , and that's what they teach basically........i don't know which instrument do you play but i would say that Berklee is very good for rock, pop, jazz, country but not good for classical studies..i have to admit that i feel amost lucky to have been rejected since now i can apply to a REAL composition course in another college and not just 4 years of learning how to use a computer for scoring to picture (that's something i already know)...i want to learn how to compose better, with good teachers...about financial aid i don't know too much but i think they are generous since 1 of my friend got a scholarship.....hope this helps sorry for my english!

My son is a freshman at Berklee and loving every minute of it. I talked to someone at the school this summer and she said there were 10,000 applicants for about 1000 spots. hope this helps and feel free to e-mail me questions

Ah, that gives us a rough idea of their yield. 10,000 applicants at a 32% acceptance rate is 3,200 accepted, of whom 1,000 enrolled. That produces a yield of about 31%.

If there were only 6,000 applicants, then there would be about 1920 acceptances and the yield would be about 52%.
