Can anyone speak on either of these schools? How are they?

bumping because I know how annoying it is when you ask a question but can't get it answered ):

did you try boardingschoolreview.com? they might have some student reviews that could help. sorry I can't provide personal insight on them

i know some people who attend Tabor, and they absolutely love it. The atmosphere isn't as intense as some of these other schools, and the campus is beautiful as its situated right on the water. If you go to Tabor's website, you're able to see a glimpse into just how beautiful the school is. The people I've heard are extremely nice, and really friendly. Sorry thats all of the information i know, and I dont know about Berkshire, but I hope I helped somehow.

I applied to both these schools (along with others) a few years ago and was accepted at both. The revisit day at Tabor convinced me that it was the right school for me. I will be a junior next year and I look forward to the next two years ahead. I thought Pomfret would be my choice until I went for the revisit day. Berkshire was nice but it was a little too relaxed and I liked the feel I experienced from the students and faculty at Tabor better. If you want anymore info, let me know and I'll do my best to help answer any ?'s you have. Most impressive aspect of Tabor for me is the faculty's comittment to every students' academics. They are always available and encourage us to get extra help when we may need it. A little more structured than some of the schools I visited but I come from a military family so that kinda' appealed to me!

I am applying to tabor next year. I took the ssat in january and scored over all in the 81st percentile my first time taking it. I was wondering if that is good enough to get me in.

^I applied to tabor with a higher SSAT and I got rejected.

oh, ouch.
Did you have a strong transcript?

^Yea, I also thought I had strong ECs. It just goes to show how random the process is, so just try to stand out in your interview. Do a few "practice" ones at schools you really don't have any intention of applying to.

Don't base everything off the SSAT!!!!
YOu never know what the admin officers are lookig for, APPLY, what have you got to lose!

D is first year at Berkshire -- happy to answer what I can given our limited (but so far very good) experience.

I didn't do well on my SSAT's so don't go by that at all regarding your acceptance. I would say your recommendations are very important and how you are as a student that matters most. I scored around the 80th percentile in math and only around the 50 or 60 percentile in the verbal so don't be discouraged by your scores. Sure, if you do great on them you have a lot to be proud about but it doesn't necessarily matter to the admissions personnel. I think schools try to place the "right" students each year by accepting those they are looking for and will best compliment the school. Hope this helps!

I applied to Tabor this year and got in..to me it seems like an amazing school, the marine science program is great, and the community is supportive and friendly.. I have a family member who currently attends and she loves it..don't know anything about Berkshire, though, sorry!

Kris81 - are you coming to Tabor as a freshman? Congratulations and I think you will be very pleased with your choice! I know I enjoy Tabor a lot.
