I've recently taken a tour and interview at Berkshire and I love many aspects of the school and community. I wanted to learn more about the school, so does anyone know anything that can't be easily found on their website or boarding school review? Does anyone attend the school or have a daughter/son who attends? Any "insider" info is appreciated.

Has it met your expectations of what you were looking for in a boarding school? Did she get accepted to any other schools, if so what made her choose Berkshire?

How are the academics? Are they comparable to GLADCHEMMS schools or does it depend more on the student?

(You don’t have to answer this question if you don’t feel comfortable) How is the FA at Berkshire? Did your daughter need any, if so did it exceed the SSS recommendation, meet the recommendation, or fall below the recommendation?

What do you/your daughter like most about Berkshire?

Thanks so much!!!

I feel like Berkshire is going to be moving up in the ranks of boarding schools with the new science center in 2012, the renovated main academic building, new athletic center, and the math/science research program. It seems like they’ve been busy in the past few years improving in many areas.

I was reading a copy of their paper that was online (or something like that from the school) and there was a teacher that recently transferred there from a school. Comparing the 2 schools he said something along the lines of: Berkshire work is not [School Name] work, [School Name] work is not Berkshire work. With Berkshire work teachers pile work on one week and leave the next week mostly free. At [School Name] the work is heavy every week.

There were also other articles that made me concerned for the quality and rigor of the schools’ academics.

I hear their athletics are very good though.

Looking at old posts & wanted to revive this one. There were some good questions asked in #4. Fif or others - anyone want to comment? S is interested in the school too - will apply out next fall.
