Essay? Recs? ECs? All of the above?

GPA is number one. And I think other things like grade trends and honors courses go second. Life circumstances (if it applies to you) would go third. Everything else is probably tied for fourth. (EC’s, rec’s…etc) This is my opinion.

I’ve been hearing the essay is one of the most important.

The general consensus seems to agree with what Andale posted in the Transfer 101 thread. For junior transfers, it’s:

College transcript

Personal statement and letters

ECs and soft factors

For sophomore transfers, include the high school transcript, standardized test scores, and high school ECs; the ECs being the lowest priority.

Reading these boards, your reasons for transferring do seem to play a pretty important role too.

I think it depends on the University and your major. Certain Colleges within Universities may place more weight on specific areas. This is what i have experienced in CA

number of credits(soph/jr transfer) and classes taken in cc. I assume lots/most colleges will give priority to the students who took the required classes. And i’m sure 4.0 with a schedule full of irrelevant and easy classes won’t look too good.
