You guys call us partisan hacks. By arguing against conservatives' arguements, you're simply proving you're partisan hacks too (just for the liberal side).

They're just upset that Republicans control every single branch of the government. Sorry guys; try not to be sore losers!

I wouldn't be surprised if they lost every branch in coming election years since they are now even more liberal than the Democrats on everything except social issues.

Contract with America, Episode Two: the Demise of the Hypocrites? o.O

liberals always hate republicans just because...it doesnt matter who the president is...whether its GW or the Pope they will still hate him

^That's the stupidest thing I've ever read.

Check your 20s/50s history, pal.

no its not.....its because you dont agree with his point of view.....ok lets check my 50's history......ok southerners were democrats and they hated the liberals who were trying to break off segregation.....that good so far??? liberals/hippies have always hated conservatives who tend to be pro-military. it is truly OBVIOUS to everyone here that the opposing side is always angry when a different political party takes office and gains a majority.

DUH

with that prescient and wise observation I would say that you have met the IQ requirement to be Dubya

mzlover, its nice to see you here

if you want, I can give you the contact info of the President of Cal Dems, which by the way are a smaller group than the cal republicans

Gosh i never thought i'd be saying this, but TakingBackSaturday.......even primitive is better at coming up with a coherent, valid argument than yourself....and your last post made no sense...it doesn't prove that "democrats always hate republicans." You get a moderate Republican in office, I betcha 75% of the Democrats will be happy, as will a majority of the general public. You get a conservative Democrat in office, it'll be the same way. Ppl are centrist...some Repubs and Democrats actually hate the opposite party, but many of them consider eachother competetive collegues. They must agree on many issues to actually get things done...they must cooperate and form close ties to come up with bipartisan legislation that will pass both houses quickly...if you're referring to the public rather than the politicians then:

According to Morris P. Fiorina in his book "Culture War?"...the public is overwhelmingly moderate. They will, for the most part, agree on individual issues, but disagree when it comes to the party. Basically, disagreement rises out of which banner one person stands under...not on the issues. Really, ppl will be content with whatever president they have...furthermore, the 2 parties aren't really AS different as you make them out to be....only on a handful of issues...they agree alot more than they disagree. The rise in this so called "divide among the public," is a myth...there is no divide in the public...rather...due mostly to gerrymandering for safe seats, candidates feel no need to stay "centrist" or moderate on the handfull of issues mentioned earlier...they have no incentive...since victory is virtually guaranteed, candidates are more likely to worry about their long term careers with the party and interest groups and become more extreme on the handful of issues i mentioned earlier. Interest groups are formed around very deep, extreme views, and in order to gain financial support for future campaigns, candidates must represent these extreme views within their respective chambers...politics is divided on a handful of issues...but the general public isn't...the public is usually for something in between the two sides of the issue at hand....the so called "purists" of Congress aren't....so...you see so much conflict...there is no "hate" towards the other party....there is just tradition or pressure due to particular interests certain individuals hold on a handfull of issues to side with one party or the other....due to this "government divided through partisanship," individual politicians must make an effort to show little ill will or "hate" towards individual collegues in order to maintain a majority vote in their respective houses on legislation they want passed...if you achieve the ill will of a fellow Congressman on your committee, and you **** him off, neither he nor his "circle" will vote for your bill or resolution......though there is division on issues, there is this extreme emphasis on cooperation....and you must remember...committee interests differ from partisan interests.....democrats and republicans alike agree on about 80% + of the legislation that passes through their own committees, as long as the legislation is beneficial to their constiutients in one way or another.....partisanship does matter in committee, but by no means as much as it matters on the floor...there are actually...gasp....liberal-conservative friendships in Congress....you can see a prime example with this bill on embryonic stem cell research funding......so where exactly is this hate you speak of? among ppl holding opposing extreme views on the same issue....how many of those issues are there? a small handfull.....is this a reason for hatred? by no means.....so your statement that "democrats always hate republicans for blah blah" is untrue...it'd be just as untrue if someone said it the other way. And, ofcourse someone's going to be mad whenever their party doesn't control a certain branch....but...getting mad doesn't do anything about it...they must work with what they have.....hatred may exist among a small minority, but the overwhelming majority shows little ill will.

and ofcourse liberal hippies will hate conservative war hawks....but like i mentioned earlier...a large majority of the public is moderate on issues....there are very few of these extremists out there...less than ~20% of the public....you will rarely find an overly liberal, atheist hippie that regularly smokes pot and eats mushrooms or an overly conservative tycoon war hawk that prays 10 times a day and carries a framed portrait of Jesus around with him everywhere he goes and calls birth control baby poison. Yeah...ppl like that will probably hate eachother...but like i said...they're hard to find

Oh...and economically liberal ppl (that support large amounts of government spending on social welfare programs and large tax cuts for the lower class) in the South also tend to be die-hard Christian fanatics, and vote Republican due to their religous values....but deep down...they're liberals :)....economically liberal....if i'm not mistaken...the budget is the most important and most highly evaluated/altered piece of legislation every session.....not the bill calling abortion baby murder!!!...those that should be voting Democrats don't....they go on the side of the small number of issues that make the headlines rather than those that will help them out in the long run.

to add to what i was saying....who wants to see political agreement on the news? "two Congressman cooperate on a transportation bill that guarantees truckers a two hour break every 17 hour shift today...front page news"....you see "Democrat so and so supports saving the life of a mother who can die, because of the baby she is about to give birth to, while Republican John Doe denounces the murder of the innocent unborn"...there is no "hate" towards the other party...this extreme conflict is somewhat played up by the media as well....

I just want to say that there's an excellent book out there that addresses what nahrafsfa points out: What's the Matter with Kansas? by Thomas Frank

Great book which all curious conservatives out there should read before they speak.

also Morris P. Fiorina's "Culture War?" It's a book full of poli-sci statistics and facts...really short...about 100 pages i think....some parts are boring, but the facts are interesting.

Damn, nahrafsfa, i can't believe you are still posting. Your arguments have been denounced by both LIBERALS and CONSERVATIVES, and both claim I won the debate with you. :) Keep your ignorance and over-confidence to yourself.

TakingbackSunday, thats for the laughs. I cant breathe because i am laughing so hard. keep up the clowning.

I saw primitivefuture dancing with Tituba and the Devil!

I'm sorry, it's just so hard to take an Internet debate seriously, and I get my kicks from people who actually treat it as a serious debate. I love when people cry out "go check you facts," or "show me sources" as if I really gave enough of a crap to try that hard to convince someone on a political issue over the Internet.

And as always primitivefuture thanks for your always outlandish statements, especially those that fall into my second favorite "funny internet debate quotes": claiming you won the debate. It takes a special kind of arrogance and ego to actually need to justify yourself by claiming you've won a debate no one really cares about.

Although in primitive's mind the very fact that I'm a moderate conservative invalidates anything I have to say, and he won the debate...so I don't know if I should even trust myself...dang Republicans.

obviously, but primitive cares. And gosh, in his mind, this is some sort o personal victory. tsk tsk, primitive, really now, you haven't won a single debate, how is that not apparent to you? I really am baffled you. Really.

Hunter, you took the words right out of my mouth.

haha, i take every debate seriously. I have been considered the winner from both sides. period.

and uc_benz, did you come back to the US yet? I still didnt forget about those pictures. And I would also like to talk about Bush's policies regarding student finacial aid.

hunter, i never seen you debate here. Good cheerleading though. Hope it builds up your ego :) You are really lost in "your wife's pants." Come back when you return to reality. even though I have never seen you, I can still say with confidence that you are a clown.

^....and this is from someone who claims not to make personal attacks :)

Let's all do primitive a favor and ignore him. Then he can finally get out of the house and grace the outside world with his godly powers!

haha, sorry if this debate didnt come out the way you expected :)
