Best Achievments after Admission! LOL!

I just thought this was kind of funny, so I decided to post it.

My main extra-curriculars have been science olympiad and science bowl. The two are awesome and I think they have been some of the two most positive experiences in my life up unto this point in time.

I've been stressing about getting a fancy national medal at science olympiad and getting to double elim rounds at science bowl throughout highschool because I thought it would be a great ornament on my MIT application.

Last year, neither happened. I got in EA and shouted for joy. Yay! I figured, "Alright, now I'm into college, so I guess I'll not worry about my extra-curriculars and just relax for the rest of the year."

Then somehow, at science bowl, we DID manage to get double elims and at science olympiad I got two fancy gold medals at nationals. I was like, "Yes!" -- but I'm already into college! LOL, just thought it was REALLY ironic. ANy of you have stories like that?

that is ironic and funny! congrats!

and no...i don't have a story like that, but i've been featured in the paper a few times after my admission.

i've gotten fatter, lazier, and the graph of my senior year gpa vs time since i've been accepted closely resembles 1/x, x>1.

wait, so your GPA was less than 1, even at your height achievement? :-) Perhaps a 4.5/x, x>1 would be more accurate, yes? Anyway, my biggest achievement is getting the personal hovercraft i built to lift a 250 lb man. I even got my principal to ride it.

most of the best accomplishments come senior year, after admissions. our school's scibo team and scio team made nationals all when I was in senior year.

hovercraft -- lol we did that in AP physics this year. Fun little thing! How high did yours stay off the ground? Ours was only like 1 cm off from the surface :)

1/x + 3, if you want to be anal about it (or a conversion factor on the scale), thou I think the "resembles" wording covers that :D

I think my best post-admission achievement was convincing my parents to let me attend... my mom was planning to get an in-ground pool if I went to Ohio State, which she of course couldn't get while paying through the nose for MIT tuition. I had to convince her that my future was more important than the in-tround pool... my little brother still isn't sold on the merits of MIT vs. the pool.

purityandchastity received cambridge award for best A level performance in her whole country - after getting admitted.

staticsoliloquy- that is awesome! i really hate it that the math olympiads come so late.....i mean, i didnt even care about math stuff when i took AMC 12 this year (i only got 98.5) but next semester, after ive already applied, i am actually going to try hard and hopefully make USAMO- but of course, thats AFTER the fact. should i report a 98.5 AMC score?
