I am going to start studying for the ACTs and the SATs, and am looking for prep books. Which are the best??

The Official College Board SAT Study Guide (Usually referred to as the Blue Book or BB) and the The real ACT Prep Guide (Usually referred to as the Red Book). These are your only sources of previously administered exams for both tests besides online so use them wisely.

Other good books include:
PR’s 1296 ACT practice questions
Barrons SAT Guide or Barron’s 2400 (depending on score)
Dr. Chung’s or Gruber’s Math Workbook for SAT math (depending on score)
Barron’s Writing and CR Workbooks
CB online course

Barron CR and Writing workbooks are AMAZING
Barron 2400 is too :D

There is a new book out called The Ultimate Guide to SAT grammar by Meltzer. It’s really helpful for making sense out of the grammar sections. You can’t really get that from the Barron’s books.
