Trying to determing the best ACT prep company, Kaplan or Princeton Review? ANy advise?

I did Princeton Review small group tutoring, and honestly, its not worth the money. Unless your scores are low, I would strongly recommend studying on your own. Near the end of my tutoring, our tutor just sat there and timed us while we took practice tests.

most test companies’ programs are aimed for low scorers. if yours is lets say above a 25-30, chances are, it will be a waste of money and you will see little improvements.

ps. I recommend zala2022’s online 1 on 1 tutoring. My last student scored a 35 on the dec act.

So I took the ACT twice and scored a 22 trying to study by myself. After some research, I took a small group online tutoring class through Clearpath Advantage and it seemed worth it for the money. The teacher adjusted the class instruction to the issues we were all having along with going over approaches to all different problems. Also if I ever had questions he would meet me online to go over them. The tests provided seemed to be on par with what I saw on the ACT, too. Score went up to a 28 so I was happy.

Might not be an option in your area, but I took a course with TestMasters and my score went from a 29(no prep) to a 32
They bring in different tutors to help with each subject and you take 3 or 4 practice tests. I had a friend who went from a 25 to a 30 because of the class!

My friend just took a 1-on-1 online class with the same company ClearPath Advantage and said it helped in working out some of the small issues she had. Her trouble was she kept doing poorly on the Reading section & in the Scientist 1 & 2 Theories section (probably not called that) of the Science portion. All her practice tests were in the mid 30’s, but on the real tests her highest Reading & Science scores were 24 & 26, respectively. The teacher worked with her on switching the approach on question types she was getting wrong. She already had a 30 overall on the ACT, but her score went up to a 34!
I think this would be a case where a one-on-one option would prove more effective than a group class.

Kaplan is crap if you are above 27. Go buy Princeton Review 1296 Questions, ACT 36, and The REAL ACT, it will cost you less than $50 and you will probably improve more. I got a 32, just taking tests and reviewing.
