Best Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering Schools?

I'm a senior, and I feel limited by my choices. I wanted to hear what some of you guys think are some good colleges to apply to in this major.

What are your stats?

What do you want to do with those majors? Would a broader E discipline give you more options, like MechE?

What is your home state?

Do you know how much your family will spend?

This question has been asked several times in the last 6 months. Do a search of this forum.

There are 65 ABET-accredited Aero Engg programs in the US, some of them at the best schools in the US.

My other suggestions: UC Boulder, Florida Inst of Technology, Penn State, Ohio State.

N.C. State University has an Aerospace Engineering major

4.72 GPA
1/480
30 ACT
200+ hours of community service
Basketball
Track
Several school awards for excellence in mathematics.
California

that 30 will hurt you at the elite schools like MIT, GT, and Purdue. The ranking will help everywhere else. Here’s the 65 ABET schools:

how does the ACT score break down? have you run the net price calculators anywhere?

33 Math 34 Science 26 English 26 Writing
I think I’m pretty weak in english portions of standardized tests, but I don’t actively study for these tests.

Welp. The students who do actively study for them get higher scores, and are more likely to get in.

@Intparent Of course, that’s obvious.

Which Calif schools will you be applying to?

What is your career goal?

Mechanical Engineering is fine as I can simply specialize in aerospace later. My family is looking to spend 40-50 a year. I will be applying to Berkeley, UCLA, and USC. Also applying to Michigan. I’m thinking about Stanford, but I don’t know if that’s the type of school for me. I want a bachelor’s degree right now, and then a masters/doctorate later. If I don’t apply early to any school, I can take the time to take the ACT again. I already am going to take the SAT II Physics and Math II exams next week.

A 30 won’t do it for Stanford.

Stanford
Cal
UCLA
USC
Mich

those are all reaches. What are your matches and safeties?

RPI

@mom2collegekids do you recommend that I retake the ACT and don’t apply to a college early?

You can do both…you can apply ED to a school, and you can also take the ACT again. If you don’t get into your ED school, then you’ll be glad to have a higher ACT score to help with RD admissions.
