My daughter loves Model UN and Youth Leg and history and wants to study International Relations, but she is not at all what you would call preppy and so a lot of recommended colleges (like Georgetown) don't appeal to her. I went to JHU so that's one option. She is also interested in Columbia and Penn (she likes big cities). She'll probably go on to graduate school, so needs a school that will get her into a good grad school for International Relations. And it would be nice to find some 2nd-tier school, too, where she might get more financial aid. Thanks!

Tufts and American both come to mind, although American might be too preppy for her. You could look at Brown, UChicago, Middlebury, and Williams as well. However, these are all top-tier schools and wouldn’t give merit aid, except perhaps American. What state are you in?

Also GWU and Macalester (St. Paul), which do give merit aid. I remember seeing an International Studies program in the Pitt Honors program (merit aid and rolling admissions). UMaryland-College Park is another possibility.

[International Relations :: Mount Holyoke College](http://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/internationalrelations/)

Mt Holyoke (MA) highly ranked women’s college, known for good financial aid.

These sound like our kind of schools. Thanks!

Check out Bard.
