Does anyone have an opinion on which schools have a great anthropology department?

Univ of Chicago and Univ of Pennsylvania

I think the best three are Uchicago, University of Michigan and Harvard. However, this is for graduate ranking, something to keep in mind.

Do you have a particular interest in mind? Anthropology is such a broad major (spanning everything from paleontology to folklore) that you should have some idea of what you're interested in. Some colleges are great for biological anthropology; some don't even offer it. Some anthropology departments offer a wide range of cultures; others limit themselves to themselves to North America or the Southwest. You're going to have to do your own work in choosing colleges that fit your interests and qualifications.

Here's a list of anthropology departments:

I've already to applied to the schools I've chosen. Just getting outside opinions.

Harvard and UChicago have very strong Anthropology departments.

I see you posted that once before!

Hi there,

I was just wondering whether anyone could tell me where the best place would be to do a religion anthropology course in Australia or in the world.

Regards,
Adrian

It sounds really weird but IPFW (Indiana-Purdue) is GREAT! (For undergrad) that’s where I am. It’s an IU degree, but since IPFW doesn’t have a grad school, the undergrads get to do all the cool/fun stuff. Plus, it’s only about $550 per credit hour (about $8000 for a semester as apposed to $20,000 for a well known school). It’s a small school, so it’s like private college for public price. And all the anthro profs are awesome.

Archaeology, perhaps? Like about 5 years ago, I think some buried human skeletal remains were found on the campus. I think they first thought they were from deceased patients from the old state developmental center across the street, but then determined that they were Indian remains. Supposedly, there is an Indian burial ground across the street, too.
