You really don’t need a book for AP Lang… Our teacher gave everybody in the class a copy of the Barrons book to study with, and I only ever used it when he forced us to practice in class.

APUSH is pretty much the same… The teacher gave all of us a copy of a Barrons review book… I never actually opened the book, but have heard nothing but good things from those who did read it.

In general, 5 Steps to a 5 and Barrons are excellent brands. Pretty much any book published by them for AP review is golden.

I didn’t use a book for AP English and didn’t need it at all. I just used released AP exams I found online for practice and then studied my class notes. For AP US History, I used Princeton Review, class notes, and released AP exams, and I did well with just that. I haven’t taken AP Biology yet, but I’m planning on getting Princeton Review for that too (I used it for Chemistry and it worked for me). That said, Princeton Review is more of a general content review book that works best when you’ve had a good AP teacher and you just need recap, so if you’re looking for something more in-depth maybe go with a different book.
