Here’s another web site, CollegeChoice, with a list of the top 50 engineering programs (with graduate programs) in the US. They don’t go into detail about their ranking criteria, but they rank MIT at #14 when most other web sites have it as #1, so take it with a grain of salt. Anyway, it’s an interesting read.
Any ranking system without a methodology is completely worthless (as compared to ones with that are just mostly worthless). Imagine you’re ranking cars, with no methodology and Porsche comes out on top. Arguably they’re great cars…unless you want to haul wood or ski.
There are a lot of the usual suspects in there. Order is debatable, and completely dependent on what the person searching is looking for. I will say Harvard and Yale in the top 50 is pretty laughable.
