Best backpack?

Dakine, the stitching is much more precise than that of North Face

Got one of these when I graduated high school: <a href=“Shop the Official Kanken Backpack Collection | Fjallraven US”>http://www.fjallraven.us/pages/kanken</a>. Pricey but last forever while obtaining some patina. The classic one and definitely fits a 13’’ laptop, but there is another model with a separate pocket for one as well.

I’d only wear Everlane or Cote&Ciel.

I say the Real Tree backpacks you get in the hunting store are very sturdy. I have not used mine that much but for 20$-30$ you can’t beat the quality. Although they can be kind of ugly. Just don’t buy the walmart no name garbage, zipper flew open when I had 15-20lbs of books in it when I was still in middle school.

Are students using traditional backpacks these days or just the drawstring smaller bags?
Daughter is entering Ohio State University this fall.

I haven’t seen students using drawstring bags to take to class, in general. People usually just have a backpack or just a notebook if they’re just leaving the dorm for a single class.

@OSUmom2018‌ - I don’t think drawstring backpacks are the most efficient for college - they can’t handle a lot of weight without being really uncomfortable and then what they do carry well can just as easily be carried in one’s arms. I think your daughter would be better off with a standard backpack, or maybe even a tote/purse which is popular with college girls. I know the Longchamp Le Pliage tote has been and probably will continue to be a trend for college bags.

I have Marmot. They’re great and I haven’t had issues with zippers breaking like I have had with other backpacks in the past. They’re also larger and can be used for multi-purposes like an afternoon hike. I like it.

Many thanks for the helpful comments. All good information.

Northface backs are on sale at the moment on ebags ; just ordered a surge 2 for $89!

A lot of people on my campus wear North Face backpacks, cause they’re durable and supportive for your back. Mine has held up really well, and most of them have a laptop slot too.
