Hi guys,
I am applying as an international student to colleges in the US. I would be applying for an CS degree in the top 10 - 15 colleges.
Please give me the names of the BEST CS schools APART from the ones listed on the US news website :

How do you define “best” if not from the US News rankings? I would use the rankings as a starting point. If you don’t like the top 10, then move further down the list.

Colleges that are highly regarded for CS by industry (in addition to those on the link) are:

Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo)
University of Wisconsin Madison
University of Washington Seattle
University of Maryland College Park
Brown University
Purdue University
Rutgers
University of Massachusetts Amherst

These are not meant to be order. Many of larger flagship State Universities have excellent CS programs, so you may want to look at those not on the list as well. So universities such as University of New Hampshire Dover has an excellent program.

Hiring from some state universities is highly regional. So recruiters from California are unlikely to visit University of New Hampshire, but those from Boston/Route 128 no doubt will.

Harvey Mudd College
Brown University
Santa Clara University – if you don’t mind that it’s a Jesuit-run school.
University of Washington
University of Michigan
Rice University

In my neighborhood, we think San Jose State’s CS program is in rival of Santa Clara’s, believe me or not. The cost of attending is hugh for in state.
