Best boarding school

Atalk related an incident in which he/she felt his daughter was not treated fairly by the school's debate team. This struck me as odd as debate teams usually have faculty leaders who don't put up with much nonsense.

At my "elite" prep, unless you are super rich in a public way, nobody knows or cares who has money. We all are always broke when scrounging money to order a pizza!

I hate to say this atalk, but could the problem be that your daughter does not get along with the other students? Maybe she need some help socially.

For the record, atalk, I was appointed head of 4 organizations. Granted some of those appointments were made by fellow students, but even so, that just shows the faith the faculty rests in its students to make choices for the right reasons. I also received faculty appointed titles and honors. I am not bragging, I worked hard to earn those roles. Furthermore, I am completely confident that those I did not get were because I was not the most qualified or did not "put forth the most ideas." My financial situation was never taken into consideration. Maybe that was just my school, but it was plenty elite.

Missariella went to Exeter, I'll do the bragging for her. I just wanted to clear that up so you can really understand how these schools trust the students and let them take intiative.

Thank you very much for providing your valuable input. I agreed with you and let my daughter’s raise the questions. She also got support from other people who were concerned by the sideshows. Anyway two weeks ago the debate club allowed my daughter to be an active member and thus she will be able to participate in debate, which she enjoys tremendously. As a person whose kid was there on a financial aid, I was concerned that money may be an issue but ultimately this was not so. The club selected kids based on merit. And I must apologies for even questioning the integrity of the people involved. I was simply wrong. I should have used my judegement to even make a hint about wrongdoing. Thank God

That's great, I plan on joining the debate team, when I get to SPS.

This is just my personal evaluation. Because there are so many boarding schools, I cannot list all of them. This is just going off the top of my head. I think the top boarding schools with no ranking are:
Exeter, Andover, SPS, Choate, Milton, Hotchkiss, Deerfield, Miss Porter's, Groton,Taft, Loomis

Milton is only about 55% boarding though so I wouldn't consider it the best option.
