im going to take SAT II biology.(either M or E).what book is the best for this subject?

by the way, based on ur experience, which one is easier for you? M or E? (im more interested in E.but i heard that it might be harder.and it looks bad if u are going to major in biochemistry in college)

And, honestly, Yipyip, I don’t think that E vs. M is going to matter at all for college majors…
Just do what you feel better at. I was planning on taking M when I walked into the room and started taking the test, but then I took E. I still can’t believe it…I took E with almost no prep for E and did fine, so I think the E vs. M choice is often blown out of proportion.

i used barron’s and got 750 on bio m. but try to get a copy of collegeboard cus the concepts in there are similar (but worded differently) with the actual test. some questions in barron’s were jusst insane…i would get 640s on barron’s practice tests so on the day of the exam i found the test easier than what i expected.

i got an 800 with princeton on E. i think its a personal preference; i’m much better at ecology than molecular biology. take the one you’d do better on… I think the book you use depends on how much time you have and what kind of attention span you have. I had two weeks and absolutely no attention span; I used princeton and did fine. You might have to touch up on organismal biology from some other source, I found that princeton had a very spotty coverage of it. going through barrons it frankly a waste of time. TMI. if you notice any problem areas, focus on those. but the best thing you can do to study is to take as many practice tests as you can. spark notes has some, do all the princeton ones, college board’s you can buy in their book of subject test prep,<-------fairly accurate prediction of your actual score, barrons <-------well you’ll learn stuff while shootin down your ego.

I took Bio E twice. First time in May I got a 680 with no specific preparation (no time), although I was taking AP Bio. Second time, in June, I got a 770. To review for the June test I used the Cliffs AP Bio book and took practice tests from the PR SAT Bio and CB books. My practice test scores were slightly better for E than for M, so I went with E on test day.

BTW, I found that the questions in the PR and CB practice tests were very similar to the real thing, though my CB practice test score (760) was much more accurate in predicting my actual score than my PR practice test scores (650, 670).

I flipped through Barron’s after I finished reading Princeton Review. I didn’t know a thing, haha. But it didn’t matter for the actual test, PR was enough.

I remember getting a 400 on the Barron’s diagnostic test, haha.

lol well you really don’t need to study for this. I bought princeton but i thought princeton was just unnecessarily long. I just got bored reading it. The first 6 chapters were just useless info. I took a practice test on the collegeboard book. i got a 720 (M) which wasn’t that great. The week leading up to the test i decided to do some reading on plants (that alone got me an additional 80 points).

Then i took the practice sparknotes tests online (for some reason i would finish all 80 questions in a matter of 30 minutes). On sparknotes i was getting 570s lol.

Adding to that. I was going to take M like i (poorly) prepped for.

Once i got to the M questions…I knew absolutely nothing past the 2nd question. So i switched over to E and took that. I got like 3 of those questions wrong but it would have been a slaughter had i taken M
