Best book for Math II material-wise?

I'm going to be honest, I'm not a math gifted genius. For the past 2 years, I've had a couple terrible teachers so my vital Algebra II/Pre-Calc base is rather shabby. Once I get math, I get it. But unlike much of CC, I can't really look at practice math problems and go "oh! apply the xyz formula and boom goes the problem!".

I've heard raging reviews for Barron's Math II book, but does it provide the actual material and review information I need? I'm well understood on the practice tests, but I'm inquiring about the material. Will I be able to read through the material and be taught math? Perhaps another, better book out there for this? Aiming for 750+, of course.

Thanks!

If you have a Precalc textbook, that is probably the best and would have the most information about Precalc, which is what they test you on in Math II.

Except the test prep book will introduce you to the ways in which you’ll be tested on the precalc material, which is extraordinarily helpful in preparing for the exam.

I strongly recommend Barron’s as well. It does have helpful content introductions, as well as many (6 I think?) practice tests. Their exams are definitely harder than the real thing, so if you can get 40+/50 [including the guessing penalty] you’re on the way to an 800.

Hello

“Except the test prep book will introduce you to the ways in which you’ll be tested on the precalc material, which is extraordinarily helpful in preparing for the exam.”

what test book are you talking about?
thx

IMO, Barron’s has the most helpful book. It covers all of the topics that are on the SAT II (and some other stuff you don’t need). My highest score on Barron’s was 680 or so, but I got an 800 on the real thing. lol

Princeton review isn’t horrible, but it’s tests are slightly easier than the real thing and they don’t give enough practice problems.

Also, the Ti-nspire CAS can solve a few of the SAT II questions in about 20 seconds. You can probably buy the old version for around $60 or $70 dollars. This might be a worthy investment, especially since you can check your calc hw with it as well.

Barron’s, definitely. The most helpful book in test preparation, especially SAT. Brother hated math and struggled with it throughout high school, bought Barron’s for math II and managed to pull a 700. Furthermore, Barron’s is fantastic for SAT II Biology as well, and I’d assume it’s just as good for the rest of the subjects. Get it.
