Or I should say paying for college without going into $100,000 worth of loans?

My first choice is Princeton Review but was wondering if their was anything better out there.

The Princeton was my favorite. You can learn most of it here too but in the book it’s all in one neat package. [Paying for College Without Going Broke, 2013 Edition (College Admissions Guides): Princeton Review, Kalman Chany, Bill Clinton: 9780307945327: Amazon.com: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Paying-College-Without-Edition-Admissions/dp/0307945324)

Awesome! How well did it work for you?

Very informative. When I got here to CC I already knew most everything about FA :)

You can get a copy from your library and see if you like it before buying this year’s edition. Mine was actually a few years old and it was fine, things don’t change all that much.

Cool. Thanks!

I really liked Lynn O’Shaughnessy’s book, The College Solution, but you can actually learn a lot just from her website, the college solution . com . She’s a professional journalist and used to write for CBS Marketwatch, among other publications.

[The College Solution: A Guide for Everyone Looking for the Right School at the Right Price (2nd Edition): Lynn O’Shaughnessy: 9780132944670: Amazon.com: Books](http://www.amazon.com/dp/0132944677/?tag=asly-20)

I’ll check that out. Much appreciative.

What is your situation? We can probably direct you w/o you even needing a book. A book isn’t going to help every student pay for any school…it doesn’t work that way.

Are you a high school senior?
GPA?
SAT or ACT scores?
Intended major and career
home state
amount parents will pay
low income? middle income? upper-middle? Upper?
are there schools that you can commute to from home?
what schools are you looking at?

The “Paying for College Without Going Broke” is good, but it only covers need-based aid. It doesn’t address merit aid at all.

I think The College Solution makes the most sense of any book on the market. I second the recommendation and call it required reading.
