Best Book to Improve CR Score

What is the best book to buy that willl best help me with the CR section of the SAT test. Looking for a 100 point increase with a lot of studying.

There are a lot of threads out there on this subject but the main ones that you will find are Grammatix, Barrons 2400, Kaplan 2400, and Rocket Review. I personally find Rocket Review to be the most useful because i personally feel that his technique/approach to tackling the passsage questions are most effective. It should also be noted that Grammatix, probably the other most popular system, has an approach completely different but everyone has their own opinions on which one is the best.

Do you know which book will specifically target sentence completions, as that is my weakest point.

Improving setence completion skill is much easier than improving that of passage reading.
You have to memorize 1000 words.
Or every time you practice a sentence completion part, memorize all the words on the pages. Best books are CB Blue Book, 10 Real Sats, and old Psat booklets.

I haven’t used this book yet but the book Direct Hits Vocab appears to be very good. Some people on this site said that it had the most number of words on the May SAT when compared to the number of total words in the book when compared to other vocab books such as PR’s Hit Parade List and Barron’s Hot Word List. Rocket Reviews Core Words and PR’s list had the 2nd and 3rd most. But you can buy the Direct Hits Vocab book at [Direct Hits Publishing - Lulu.com](http://stores.lulu.com/directhits)

to the OP, a hundred point increase can mean a lot of things. going from 500 to 600 is far more attainable than a jump from 700 to 800. so what sort of increase are you hoping for?

Which book is best for the passage based questions?

I hope to jump from a 570 to a 670-700

hannah, books or tests are good in following order: 1. acutal sat tests(old exams) 2. actual past tests (old exams) 3. CB online tests 4. blue book 5. 10 real sats

Where do u get ACTUAL/REAL PAST SAT TESTS FROM ONLINE?

You can buy old psat tests from the college board store ($ 5 each), and you should call them to send answer keys later.

I jumped from 660 to 760 on CR by reading both volumes of the Direct Hits series. Vocab is crucial for sentence completion questions and can be helpful for reading passages as well. I also went over the CR practice questions in the Blue Book, but I’d say learn your vocab first.

heh, I just noticed this is an old thread. :P
