Best book to self-study AP World History over the summer?

I’m going to take AP World History next year, and since I really have nothing to do this summer apart from going on a trip, I wanted to get a little headstart on AP World. I know there have been lots of threads already about self-studying for these tests, but if I’m already going to take AP World next year, would be PR or Barron’s be the better primer?

bump

My students say that The Princeton Review is good as a narrative, but REA Crash Course is best after you actually study as it is not really a narrative (written in bullets).

So would Princeton Review be good, even if I haven’t taken the course yet?

Yes! It’s an amazing study guide. I read it twice for the test this past May and it helped a lot! I really do recommend the Princeton Review.

Yes.

Thank you!

I agree, PR is very comprehensive and detailed. I’d use REA crash course after reading the PR as well, just to review the main points. Also, John Green’s Crash Course World History videos are a good way to review! I used all three, and I got a 5 :)

Agree with the above author… Although it is a lot of material to learn, I think the combination of Princeton and REA should be fine. In addition to CrashCourse, you may want to use getafive.com to study!

Good luck - I got a 5 this year!

I self-studied it this year and received a 5. I used SAT II Barron’s Book and briefly read over the Princeton Review. I watched John Greene’s World History Crash Course videos on Youtube, and the GetaFive.com videos. Hope this helps!
