What are the best books out there on college admissions? There are so many of them haha, are any of them actually helpful?

The Zinc(h) Guide to College Administration and Financial Aid.

I think Admissions Confidential by Rachel Toor is an excellent book! Not only is it written and structured in such an engaging way, but it reveals to readers what really goes on in the adcom office. "A’ for Admission by Michelle Hernandez is also helpful, although not quite as engaging as Admissions confidential.
By the way, the Rachel Toor and Michelle Hernandez were admissions officers at Duke and Dartmouth, respectively, so they’re extremely qualified to give professional advice.

I suggest The College Solution to start with. It covers everything. What I like best about it is that it starts with the financial aspects. If you decide to go for an Ivy, you might try something more focused on admissions.

Thanks for your input guys! Any others? :)

Admission Matters by Sally Springer et al.

The Gatekeepers by Jacques Steinberg. Its not a “how to get into college book”, rather, it is a book that chronicles the admissions process of Wesleyan. Much more enlightening to the admissions processes of top colleges than those how to books.
